Jewellery Workshops at Redcliffe Gallery

State of shine branding

I am excited to be doing a couple of jewellery workshops at Redcliffe Art Gallery.

You can find me at two sessions, a jewellery repair workshop or a bracelet making class.

The bracelet making class is an absolute steal at $10 as you can come along and learn to make your own Silver Mandala Pearl bracelet - this retails at $60 or the DIY kit is $35.

At time of writing the Electro Etching workshop is already sold out - so get in fast!

Redcliffe Art Gallery is excited to host a series of workshops with artisans from the Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia (Queensland Chapter) to celebrate their current exhibition State of Shine.

All materials provided.

Re-wilding craft

29 March and 11 June | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM | ages 15+ | $20

Take a walk on the wild side! Accompany artists Nellie Peoples and Michelle Stemm as they take the act of making from a traditional studio space into the outdoors. Participants are guided through a process of observing garden specimens, designing and constructing simple wire pins.

Nellie Peoples and Michelle Stemm are Brisbane based designers working in the field of contemporary jewellery. Michelle manipulates materials to create signifiers of personal stories, while Nellie’s practice explores the connection between objects and the wearer and how they can represent past, present and future narratives of people, places and events.

Plastic crocheted jewellery

10 April | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM | ages 15+ | $20

Join Megan Mackenzie and learn how to transform plastics into unique jewellery pieces using crochet techniques and recycled sterling silver findings.

Megan MacKenzie is an artist who fossicks for the remnants of car crashes and other found materials and turns them into authentic jewellery. Megan aims to highlight the social and environmental implications of her core materials, via the transformation into "valued" objects.

Jewellery repair

1 May | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM | ages 15+ | $20

Everything old is new again! Join Sinead Buckney to learn simple jewellery repair techniques or redesign old jewellery to give it new life!

Sinead Buckney designs jewellery with sustainability in mind, using recycled gold and silver and often uses materials that can be adapted and repaired over their lifetime.  Many of her jewellery pieces become cherished heirlooms.

Bracelet making

29 May | 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM | ages 15+ | $10

Design and create a beautiful bracelet with Sinead Buckney using a selection of silver mandala and gemstone beads. Keep it for yourself or gift your creation to someone special!

Originally from Scotland, Sinead Buckney graduated from her jewellery design degree in 2005 and Gemmology in 2010.  Since then, she’s been creating quality jewellery to celebrate special moments.

Electro etching

24 April | 10:00 AM - 1.00 PM | ages 15+ | $20

Explore the contemporary technique of electro-etching with artist Clare Poppi. The process of electro-etching allows participants to hand draw imagery directly onto metal resulting in a pair of earrings or pendant unique to you!

Clare Poppi is an artist and educator working in Brisbane. Her primary practice is in jewellery and small object making, with a focus on sustainable design and wearables.
